OUR STORY
Missionaries in DR Congo
We are a missionary family who has been with our mission since 2013, serving ten years in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Our time on the field was filled with challenges and moments of seeing God's hand and provision that profoundly changed us and how we view God's world.
ABOUT OUR FAMILY
We are the Petersens and for the last ten years we have been living and serving as missionaries in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Africa. Dave served as a pilot mechanic in the role of Chief Pilot for our program, and Ashley served as a homemaker and mom, attempting to start a Community Development Program through animal husbandry and agriculture. Repeated setbacks through evacuations and insecurity in the area prevented the program and our family from flourishing, but provided a worldview that we carry with us.
Now, after a couple years of transition, we will be moving back to the States to take on a new missionary position at our mission's headquarters, and setting up our family's homestead. We will carry our decade of service in the Congo with us always but we hope to find in this new journey the green pastures, quiet waters, rest, and restoration God promises our souls.

We hope to move back, and along with starting our new life, setup up our family's homestead, and a future business of providing day-old chicks and other pasture raised poultry products, like meat and eggs. Depending on how much land we're able to acquire, we may branch out into other livestock as well, including sheep for raw milk and meat, hogs, and perhaps even cattle.

We operate as a low carb family, focusing on animal products, but do garden some using organic methods. It is an ongoing process to continue to clean up our lives and improve our health through a focus on clean-living, and regenerative practices. Our hope is to first provide for our own family and then to begin to branch out to providing for our community.
